Imported Fire Ant Quarantine in the US

This map shows the distribution and speciation of imported fire ant colonies in Tennessee based on elevation. Colony collection was from July – October 2015 and 2015 and analyzed in ArcGIS Pro desktop. Speciation was based on Cuticular Hydrocarbon and Venom Alkaloid analysis. Black imported fire ants dominated in lower elevations in the western part of the state. Hybrids were geographically distributed across the state but concentrated in the eastern, higher elevations of Tennessee. Data was provided by Dr. Jason Oliver, Research Professor at Tennessee State University.
